My stay at the Hawthorne Hotel was marked by its charming ambiance and prime location. plus the friendly service from the staff. I enjoyed the opportunity to explore Salem with everything within walking distance. However, I did encounter some noise issues from traffic at night, which detracted a bit from the overall experience.

Rooms

The room I stayed in was clean and comfortable, but a bit on the small side. I could hear traffic noise at night, which sometimes disturbed the peace.

5.6/10

I had a mixed experience at the Hawthorne Hotel. The location is fantastic, being right in the heart of Salem and close to many attractions. However, I did encounter some issues with staff interactions and maintenance problems during my stay, which detracted from an otherwise enjoyable trip. The restaurant served a decent breakfast, but the service could have been warmer.

Rooms
7.0
The room I stayed in was large and clean, although a bit stark and simple in decor. I appreciated the two closets, but I missed having more furnishings, like a dresser. Overall, it was comfortable but on the smaller side for a higher-end hotel.
Service
6.0
While some staff members were helpful, like when I had a maintenance issue, I found most interactions to be quite matter-of-fact and lacked warmth. I expected more friendly service, especially given the price point of the hotel.
Location
10.0
The hotel's central location was a major highlight. It was easy to walk to all the attractions, restaurants, and shops around Salem. I loved being able to explore the area without worry about parking, as it was included right behind the hotel.
Dining
8.0
I enjoyed breakfast at the hotel restaurant, which was tasty and reasonably priced compared to other hotel offerings I've experienced. However, I wish the menu had a bit more variety, as the lunch and dinner options felt unremarkable at times.
Facilities
7.0
The hotel's facilities were generally clean and well-maintained, and parking was convenient. However, the experience was marred slightly by the maintenance issues I faced during my stay.

7.4/10

I had a somewhat mixed experience at the Hawthorne Hotel during my stay. The location was fantastic, right in the heart of Salem, making it easy to explore the area, though I faced challenges with the service and the size of the room. The dining options had their ups and downs, with decent food but issues with the breakfast service.

Rooms
6.0
The room was spacious but lacked personal touches, feeling a bit stark, and the bathroom was somewhat cramped for the price. I also noticed some oddities like the shower being situated across from the bathroom. Overall, I think I expected a bit more for the price I paid.
Service
5.0
While some staff were friendly and accommodating, my initial check-in experience felt lacking. I expected a warmer welcome, and while I appreciated the prompt response to my toilet overflow issue, there wasn't much follow-up after that. It's those little things that can make a significant difference.
Location
9.0
The hotel's location was fantastic, situated right near the Salem Common and walking distance to many local attractions. I truly enjoyed being in close proximity to the main sites of interest.
Dining
7.0
Dining at Nathaniel's was a highlight, with delicious food and a lovely atmosphere, although breakfast could improve. I experienced a lapse in service when my over-easy eggs were not prepared as requested, which was disappointing.
Facilities
7.0
The hotel's historical charm was evident, but some mechanical issues were disturbing, especially since my room had sounds from outside. The hallways had a nice clean smell, which I appreciated. Overall, there's potential, but improvements could be made.

I had a pleasant stay at the Hawthorne Hotel, thanks to its wonderful location at the edge of Salem’s Heritage Trail. The room was spacious and comfortable, although the bathroom felt a bit cramped and chilly due to an uninsulated window. The hotel had a charming historic vibe, and the staff were generally friendly and accommodating, yet there were a few lapses in service that could use improvement.

Rooms

My room was spacious, but the bathroom was quite tiny. I struggled with the cold air from an uninsulated window during my shower. The bedding was comfortable, though I had issues with the pillows not being to my liking.

I enjoyed a good breakfast, but the dining experience wasn't without issues, particularly with service speed and inconsistency at breakfast. It offered great food once I got it.
